internet phone service

Archives for Uncategorized category

Many of us are changing to Digital Phone Lines or VoIP systems from AT&T  and Comcast, to name a couple.  Less expensive “Bundle” pricing is the big reason.  There are however a few things to be aware of as you make this decision.

The following is an excerpt  informational document from AT&T U-verse and should be read prior to changing phone systems:

Other Important Considerations
* Prior to your AT&T U-verse Voice installation, AT&T strongly recommends that you notify your
alarm company of your switch to AT&T U-verse Voice service and your scheduled U-verse
installation date in order for your alarm company to test and check the status of your alarm
system with you prior to installation and once installation is complete. If your telephone
number has changed, you will need to notify your alarm company to update your account
with the new telephone number. Failure to notify your alarm company of a change of service
or new telephone number could potentially impact your home alarm contract.
* You will be responsible for testing your home alarm system with your alarm company after
installation of AT&T U-verse Voice is complete, and on an ongoing basis.
* In some instances, your home alarm company may require and charge extra for additional
equipment or connectivity services to use your home alarm system with AT&T U-verse Voice.
* If your alarm company determines that your existing alarm panel does not work with AT&T
U-verse Voice, your alarm company may be able to install an alternative alarm panel that
will work with AT&T U-verse Voice, or a panel that uses cellular phone service, or an
IP-based panel that uses your Internet access service. (Talk to your home alarm company
about these alternatives and any additional equipment and/or monitoring service charges).
Note: If your alarm company installs an IP-based panel that will use AT&T U-verse High
Speed Internet as the communications pathway, you must ensure you have functioning
battery backup power for your Residential Gateway (and your Optical Network Terminal, if
you have one) for your high speed Internet service to work with your alarm panel during a
power outage. See learn more about AT&T U-verse Voice and Residential Gateway with
Battery Backup.

Please Note: AT&T U-verse Voice will not function, and will not be able to transmit alarm signals,
during a power outage unless you have battery backup power.

In addition, you must not connect any device to the wiring between the Residential
Gateway and the alarm panel. Any change from the configuration described above could result
in a failure of the alarm system to seize the line and, therefore, a failure of the alarm system to
communicate with the monitoring station. Also, if you use a multi-line phone with your AT&T
U-verse Voice service, you must not connect the multi-line phone directly to the Residential
Gateway; you must connect it to a phone jack in your home. If you connect a multi-line phone
directly to the Residential Gateway, this could also result in a failure of the alarm panel to seize
the line, thus preventing your alarm system from communicating with the monitoring station.

We have  solutions !!

The simple way to avoid all of these complication and make your home safer from break-ins is the StarLink.

It is a cellular back up system allowing you alarm to dial out not only on your phone line but on the cellular network

as well.  This way should your phone line be cut, your power go off or your new phone system fail your alarm will still

be able to do it’s work and call out for help.

Another benefit is StarLink Interactive:

Receive text or e-mail messages equal to the messages sent to the monitoring station.

Remote ARM/DISARM from your smartphone using the FREE app from Napco.

There is a moderate monthly charge for this service. $4.00 for the messaging and $2.00 for the remote ARM/DISARM.

Here is s full description of the StarLink system:

Reliability in Alarm Communication – eliminate dependence on phone service providers!

Bolster the reliability of your dial-up alarm control panel by connecting a Napco StarLink 3/4 GSM Wireless Alarm Communicator. This universal two-way communicator works with control panels that communicate using telephone lines to ensure signal transmission to your preferred central monitoring station. Whether you need backup in case the line goes down, or you have no telephone line at all, the StarLink communicator is your solution for dependable security.

  • Universal full event reporting from any panel
  • Backup or main cellular communicator for dial-up alarm control panels
  • Optional email/text message alerts
  • Tamper-resistant aluminum housing
  • Supports Napco Panel remote uploading/downloading

Because the communicator sends and receives signals over a nationwide cellular network, your connected control panel will be able to communicate with your monitoring station even when disconnected from a landline. Alarm signals are transmitted on the RF data-only portion of the GSM digital network, providing a fast, dependable communication path to the central station.

Advanced Backup Technology

In addition to basic backup, the communicator offers advanced features to increase control panel reliability even further. Napco’s Signal-Boost Technology amplifies alarm signals and wave shapes to boost transmission and provide reliable communication even in remote/fringe areas.

When used as a backup, the communicator will automatically switch the communication channel from the telephone line to the network when telephone line trouble is detected. The communicator is also fully supervised, constantly verifying its wireless connection. If you lose your connection at any time, the communicator will prompt your control panel immediately to alert you.

Wide-Ranging Compatibility

The communicator is compatible with any control panel that communicates using standard CS receiver formats Contact ID and 4/2. It is also the only alarm communicator that is plug-in field upgrade able to conform to progressions in network technology. If you upgrade your control panel in the future, the communicator will still work.

Simple one-step enrollment and programming provide easy installation for most applications. The communicator is powered by your control panel via the auxiliary power terminals.

We are running a SUMMER SPECIAL $269.00 INSTALLED + $12.00 per months monitoring fees.

Home automation, solar power panels for common area lighting, and environmentally friendly building materials are just a few of the green and tech-savvy features. Daniel Freeman, president of Lenox Homes, LLC, has dubbed 1756 Cole “the Tesla of condominium living.”

Certified green under the PG&E Multi-Family New Home Energy Program, the condominiums at the Cole come with ENERGY STAR® appliances, tankless water heaters, environmentally-friendly building materials, and abundant use of LED down lighting to name a few, all wrapped in high-end finishes for an elegant aesthetic appeal.

Also in each of the residences, a robust home network system was installed to support a Control4 automation and control system, installed by Paradigm Integration. “The basic Control4 automation system allowed for optional buyer upgrades to be integrated into the system that included controlling audio and video distribution, security system, lighting with scene control, automated window shades, and digital door locks,” said Freeman. The network infrastructure included a structured wiring (Cat6 and RG6 wires) system throughout the residences.

Here are some photos of a condo complex we have been working on for the past year.  We were invited by the builder to do everything from the main door entry system to lighting control and audio/video for the home owners.  Here are a few of the things we did.

Networking and infrastructure for the entire place was a big job.  Additionally we did a surveillance camera system outdoors as well as the interior common areas.

What a VIEW!!

This has been a fun project.  First of all, the location is beautiful.  More importantly, the client has been fantastic and has asked us to preform some very interesting chores.  Of course we did a Rotel, Bowers & Wilkins music system with a Sumiko ProJect turntable for the main room.

Rotel,B&W music system

Rotel Integrated amp with Bowers & Wilkins bookshelf speakers , ASW-608 sub and a ProJect turntable.

We have installed a complete Control 4 system along with a VidaBox hard drive music storage system and a Music Bridge for streaming music indoors and out.  In the ceiling of the covered patio area we installed B&W in-ceiling speakers which are also controlled by the Control 4 automation system.

In ceiling B&W speakers

B&W in-ceiling speakers are very near invisible, but sound magical!

Here is a couple of pictures of the irrigation system which is all controlled via the Control 4 automation system.  Our client can not only control the sprinklers but view the water levels in the tanks as well.

We also control lighting on this property. Interior, exterior and specialty art lighting.

It is a spectacular home and a pleasure to work on.

Beautiful room full of music.

And what a view.
