Structured Wire
Why Wiring Infrastructure?
With the evolution of the Digital Age, the wiring infrastructure in a house is very important and will have a large impact on current and future capabilities. Although there are many alternative solutions to an adequate wiring infrastructure, it usually comes at a price– either dollars or resulting capability. The Internet and the LAN (Local Area Network) are becoming a huge sharing network for audio and video. Potentially all audio and video will be delivered and shared in the home on this network and the infrastructure of wires will be critical for ling term reliability and quality.
Structured Wiring (HomeNet) is the wiring infrastructure that is the backbone to integrate lifestyle technologies. Although a relatively new concept in the residential world, it means different things to different people based on the project or design objective. In the past, wiring was installed in the home for just phone and TV. If you wanted to change or add locations, you hired someone to add wire. Many times this was not possible or was done in an unattractive solution.
The evolution of Structure Wiring provides a systematic solution and makes sure that adequate numbers and types of wiring are in place for phone, TV and data (internet). It calls for all the wires to be run from a single origination point to each of the rooms or areas. This creates flexibility and allows for solutions to many of the emerging technologies and products. The introduction of the LAN (Local Area Network) in the home as part of the Structured Wiring has become a standard and is increasingly more critical with the introduction of the emerging technologies
